Greenstone Finance and Aurium Capital Markets have purchased the GDFC for £40 million with the intention of offering new Green Deal finance loans by the end of March.
The Green Deal was closed by the Government in July 2015, with the promise that a new replacement scheme would be unveiled in early 2016. It was then announced, In January 2016, that new legislation would be published by the end of 2016. However, it has now been confirmed that the government will not be providing a replacement for the Green Deal.
It is not yet clear how the new privatised version of the Green Deal will operate or how the shortcomings of the original scheme will be addressed.
