Smart Energy GB's fifth Smart energy outlook

Smart Energy GB has published its fifth Smart energy outlook, the largest independent barometer of national public opinion on energy and smart meters, carried out by Populus.

This latest edition continues to show high levels of satisfaction with smart meters and that consumers are using the technology to help them save energy.

Smart meters are supporting households to change their behaviours and save energy. Consistent with the last publication, the results show that 82% of smart meter users have taken at least one step to use less energy, and 80% are checking their in-home display regularly.

Satisfaction remains high amongst smart meter users, with 81 percent of users saying they would recommend them.

Smart Energy GB’s campaign is also creating a positive shift in levels of understanding of smart meters and propensity to get them installed. The number of people who understand in detail what a smart meter is and what it does has risen to 33 per cent. Of these, 71 per cent would be interested to get one installed or have one already.
