The question reminded me of the old Glasgow Heatwise project. Where they used trainees to provide insulation.

HECA 2013 Summary Matrix
Now that DECC have published a summary report on the HECA reports received this year I thought I might some observtions and see what others thought on the overall picture. The link is here; https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/2013-home-energy-conservation-act-heca-reports So of the 292 Energy...

Re: Damp problems with CWI
Hi Everyone Thanks for the feedback. It turns out the problem all stemmed from the loft insulation being all over the eaves. This has been rectified now and the problem seems to have resolved now. Unfortunately the firm involved did not think they owed the home owner any compensation for the redecor...

Damp problems with CWI
After over 10 years promoting CWI I have always been aware of the potential for damp problems arising from CWI but only encountered my first potential case yesterday. I would be grateful for any advice colleagues can give. What evidnece can /should residents obtain? What is the best way to deal with...

Re: HECA will now NOT be repealed
In summary I was very disappointed, it is weaker that the original guidance and certainly missed the opportunity to correct the failings of the original HECA system. What is worse, is that some of the good bits have been lost. I appreciate that DECC has its limitations on what it can and cannot do b...

Re: Chapter 12: GD monitoring & evaluation and ECO admin
My individual views only 61. One of the main failings of past activity has been the lack of an individual property database to record all activities. Either the regulator or Local Authoritiesw through their HECA functions could be charged with recording all data on GD, FiTs and RHI at least on Domes...

Re: Chapter 11: Setting the ECO and target metrics
Please note these are my individual comments only. 56. No comment 57. Whilst the amount £1.3billion is substantial the split on the affordable warmth of 25% means the whole budget for the vulnerable is very low and below existing allocations. This is likely to mean fuel poverty targets will remain u...

Question 33 - Do you have evidence or views to put forward on whether the benefits of ECO as a whole, or of the carbon saving obligation within it, are or are not as likely to be distributed equitable to all income groups? If so, do you think regulatory intervention is necessary to ensure a more eq...

Re: Removal of old boilers
Dear Julie In our experience this has been standard practice in WF for a number of years. What we have insisted is that hotwater tanks are drained (although most of these are removed now as they have a decent cash value). We've also asked where possible contractors disconnect from the wall and leave...

The main concerns as with all initiatives is that this is all done piecemeal and hence logistically flawed. Voltage optimisation in the domestic
I am starting to see companies now moving Voltage Optimisation into the domestic arena. What I understand is that the network is rated at 240V, but in practice this can be anywhere from 210V to 250V, yet domestic appliances can operate comfortably at 220V, so by cutting down the suppply from 240 to ...
