Ofgem Consultation on Proposals to Improve Outcomes for Prepayment Customers

Post by ALEO Admin » Wed Jan 06, 2016 1:06 pm

Ofgem is currently consulting on its proposals to improve outcomes for prepayment energy customers, which it identified in its prepayment meter review in June 2015.

In its review, Ofgem committed to developing proposals to address barriers to accessing better deals for prepayment customers, which are set out in the consultation document. The proposals are designed to:
  • help PPM customers to access more competitive tariffs
  • address the costs consumers can face, ensuring these do not fall disproportionately on those least able to afford them, and
  • ensure that PPM customers are treated fairly by their energy providers.
These proposals complement the wider work undertaken as part of Ofgem’s consumer vulnerability strategy.

Ofgem's deadline for views on these proposals is 25 February 2016.
