Case studies requested on PRS and energy efficiency

The Association for the Conservation of Energy, in partnership with CAG Consultants, is looking for local authorities that are taking a proactive approach to raising energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector through the use of HHSRS, selective licensing and/or civil penalties, or which have plans in place to proactively implement the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards when they come into force in April.
They will be writing up case studies on a number of such local authorities; this will involve a short phone interview with the relevant officers at the relevant councils. If you would like to suggest your own or another council as a potential case study, please email Emma Jones, ej@cagconsult.co.uk, by 8th February, with the following information:
• Council name
• Brief details regarding the approach
• Contact name
• Email and phone number
Case studies will form part of a freely available toolkit designed to provide information and guidance on how local authorities can most effectively use their powers to increase energy efficiency in the private rented sector. The project is funded by Ebico Trust and the steering group includes representatives from BEIS, CIEH, LGA, the Residential Landlords Association and ALEO.
