Study proposes generating hydrogen from excess energy for use in natural gas networks

Post by ALEO Admin » Tue May 01, 2018 1:07 pm

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) and ITM Power have published the results of a power-to-gas feasibility study, funded by BEIS.

The study highlights the opportunity to partially decarbonise the UK's gas network, using hydrogen generated from excess electricity. This zero-carbon hydrogen can be produced from water using an electrolyser developed by ITM Power, and can then be injected into the gas distribution network for use in homes and industry.
