Green Deal Cashback Voucher Concerns

Shadow Energy Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, has called for an investigation into the closure of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) in a letter to Margaret Hodge, chair of the Public Accounts Committee. Reynolds has questioned whether the "deluge of applications" were "genuine" or "simply the speculative activity of those seeking to get their hands on as much public subsidy as possible".

The National Insulation Association has put forward proposals to DECC for urgent actions to be taken to verify the validity of the vouchers applied for, so that the scheme can be reopened and the £120 million fully spent.

A spokesperson for the DECC has apparently confirmed that it is looking into "rumours and questions about the validity of some applications and are working with industry to understand any concerns they may have".
