3. Section 106 and Energy Projects

This workshop will look at ways HECA officers can influence the arrangements of section 106 agreements that are prepared during the planning process for energy related planning applications. It will look at the way in which extra budgets can be raised from these planning applications, the legal aspects and how they are utilised. This will be an interactive workshop with delegates and they should be aware that individual projects could be developed as part of the outputs to this workshop. If you have renewable energy projects at the planning stage in your area, these can be brought to the workshop for an appraisal of what might be achieved.

Ian Robinson has spent 37 years in Local Government. The last 25 years in a variety of top jobs with 3 different
Authorities and the last 10 years as a Director of Community Services for a District Authority in Cambridgeshire.
He is, amongst other things, a qualified Environmental Health Officer, Housing Manager and Energy Engineer.
Ian ‘retired’ in June 2003 but has found it difficult not to work 7 days a week ever since.
Ian has been working for the Low Carbon Technology Partnership, which is a not-for-profit Company,
as a Director helping to encourage new developments and new Low Carbon initiatives locally and wider a-field.
When asked why he is doing this he responds by insisting that he finds the subject compelling and ‘fun’!
